Dermal Fillers Aftercare

Immediately after treatment:

• Some swelling, redness, or bruising at the injection site is normal.
• Apply a cool compress (not ice directly on skin) to reduce swelling.
• Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area unless instructed.

For the first 24-48 hours:

• Avoid makeup on treated areas for 12–24 hours.
• Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, hot tubs, or extreme heat.
• Do not consume excessive alcohol (may worsen bruising/swelling).
• Avoid blood-thinning medications (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil) unless prescribed by your doctor.

General care:

• Bruising can take up to 7–10 days to resolve. Arnica cream or oral Arnica may help.
• Swelling usually improves within 2–3 days but can take up to 2 weeks.
• Small lumps may be felt under the skin initially; these often soften over time.
• The final result is visible after about 2 weeks, once swelling has settled.

What to avoid long-term:

• Avoid dental procedures (including cleanings) for 2 weeks after filler.
• Avoid facial massages or skin treatments (peels, lasers, microneedling) for 2 weeks, unless advised by your provider.

When to contact your clinic immediately

• Severe or increasing pain in or near the treated area
• Skin that turns pale, dusky, or blotchy (sign of poor circulation)
• Sudden changes in vision (blurred vision, partial loss of sight)
• Rapid swelling, severe redness, or signs of infection
