What is a calcium hydroxylapatite injectable?
Calcium hydroxylapatite is an injectable material made of microspheres suspended in a gel carrier. It can provide structural support and encourage collagen production around the treated area.
With hyaluronic acid, volume is added with the gel like substance that is naturally produced in your body but is chemically modified to last longer. Calcium hydroxylapatite is mixed with cellulose that provides immediately volume support. The cellulose disappears within 6 – 12 weeks and is replaced by your own bodies collagen which is stimulated by the calcium hydroxylapatite.
Poly-L-lactic acid adds volume and stimulates your own bodies collagen. It is reported to last up to 24 months whereas calcium hydroxylapatite is reported to last up to 18 months. The treatment area for poly-L-lactic acid is more restricted than calcium hydroxylapatite.
